Human Rights and Women

Today, 10th of December, is the International Human Rights Day. On this day, I wish especially women enjoy human rights fully, not just in my country, Azerbaijan, but in the whole Caucasus, and in the other countries, where women face violence, live under religious, political, societal, and cultural pressure. I am not a feminist, but I truly believe that every woman has an absolute right to live her life as a human.

The above video, shot in Turkey, invites men to see, at least for a day, what it means to be a woman. I feel like I can write pages on this issue, but decided to post this video and live the rest to your own interpretation.

    Sabina,
I think you are a feminist if you believe women have a right to determine how they will live, and not be subservient. To me, that’s the meaning of feminism. The video is powerful. I’m enjoying your thoughtful posts very much. love, Sas
